I. Client Background
The client is an Indian automotive components manufacturer, primarily producing automotive brackets, metal mounting parts, seat frames, chassis accessories, and other stamped metal parts.The client's existing surface treatment process mainly relies on liquid coating. They wish to introduce a powder coating solution to improve the surface finish, coating adhesion, and production stability of their metal parts, while simultaneously increasing overall production efficiency.
During the supplier search, the client focused on the compatibility of the powder coating with their existing electrostatic spraying equipment and curing oven, as well as color and surface consistency during mass production.
II. Client Requirements
Based on the client's product structure and production processes, the client specified the following requirements:Suitable for automotive metal parts;
1. Excellent adhesion and mechanical properties;
2. Good coverage for stamped parts, brackets, and complex structures;
3. Smooth surface, stable color and gloss;
Compatible with the client's existing electrostatic spraying equipment;
1. Curing temperature compatible with existing production lines;
2. Support for common industrial colors such as black and dark gray;
3. Meeting the stability requirements of continuous mass production.
III. Our Solution
Based on the customer's usage environment and performance requirements, we recommended a polyester-epoxy hybrid powder coating. This powder coating uses epoxy resin and polyester resin as the main film-forming system, exhibiting excellent overall performance in terms of adhesion, mechanical properties, and surface decoration effect. It is suitable for applications such as automotive parts, metal furniture, chassis and cabinets, and general industrial metal products.Product Solution
Powder Type: Polyester-Epoxy Hybrid Powder Coating
Main Substrate: Steel and other metal parts
Application Method: Electrostatic Spraying
Surface Finish: Matte, matte, and fine sand texture
Main Colors: Black, dark gray, and custom colors
Application Areas: Automotive brackets, metal stampings, mounting parts, structural components, etc.
Simultaneously, our technical staff provided targeted suggestions on pretreatment, spray gun distance, spraying voltage, powder output, coating thickness, and curing conditions based on the customer's workpiece dimensions and structure.
IV. Service Process
1.Sample Development
The customer first sent several representative automotive metal part samples.
Due to the presence of bends, holes, grooves, and connection structures in some parts, the customer was particularly concerned about the powder coverage effect in these areas. Our company adjusted the spraying scheme multiple times based on the customer's samples, and confirmed the color, gloss, and surface effect.
After sample comparison, the customer ultimately selected a black semi-matte hybrid powder coating as the main product and determined the corresponding spraying and curing processes.
2. Mass ProductionAfter sample confirmation, the customer applied the powder coating to the mass production of some automotive parts.
During the production process, our company continuously communicated with the customer's technical team, adjusting the spraying parameters and curing conditions based on actual production feedback.
For metal parts of different specifications, the customer adjusted the spray gun angle and spraying distance according to the workpiece structure, enabling the powder to more evenly cover flat surfaces, edges, and recessed areas.
VI. Collaboration Results
After a period of mass application, the customer reported that the overall production performance of the powder coating was stable.Key achievements of the collaboration include:
1. Uniform coating distribution on metal parts;
2. Excellent adhesion between the coating and the metal substrate;
3. Stable surface color and gloss;
4. Semi-matte black finish meeting customer appearance requirements;
5. Good powder coverage for complex structures;
6. Excellent compatibility with the customer's existing electrostatic spraying and curing equipment;
7. Meeting the supply needs of continuous mass production.
