3. Application Fields of Polyester Powder Coatings

Home appliances: Widely used in air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, barbecue ovens, electric heaters, toasters, induction cookers, warm air fans, microwaves (with grilling functions), and inner pots of rice cookers.

Building materials: Applied to aluminum profiles for doors, windows, balconies, corridors, roofs, curtain walls, and main column coverings. Also used in scaffolding, steel windows, high-end residential and commercial buildings, sports venues, outdoor metal furniture, railings, fences, and recreational beach chairs.

Traffic facilities: Used on highway guardrails, outdoor lighting, and billboards. Polyester powder coatings are preferred for large flat or curved surfaces like guardrails due to superior weather resistance, adhesion, corrosion resistance, aesthetics, and durability compared to thermoplastic powders.

Vehicles: Applied to cars, trucks, motorcycles, and various other vehicles. Exterior components exposed to sunlight, such as dashboards, door handles, mirrors, wipers, horns, and wheel rims, benefit from weather-resistant polyester coatings. Motorcycle parts are also commonly coated with these durable powders.

Other applications: Polyester powder coatings are extensively used on coil coatings, and on a wide variety of indoor and outdoor metal surfaces, making them the most widely applied type of powder coating.

4. Development Trends of Polyester Powder Coatings

Rapid growth in weather-resistant polyester powders: High-end buildings like luxury residences, offices, hotels, and clubhouses demand longer service life for aluminum curtain walls, doors, and windows. Standard weather-resistant powders may be insufficient, while super-durable polyester powders meet these requirements.

Non-toxic, low-temperature curing: The industry is moving toward safer, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly formulations.

Functional product development: Modifying resin structures is a key trend for hybrid low-temperature curing powders. Emerging functional powder coatings include conductive powders, antibacterial powders, impact-resistant powders, multilayer composite powders, and superfine powders, with composite coating technologies becoming increasingly important.
